Our Green Star this week is Evergreen Community Charter School, one of two schools in North Carolina and one of 78 schools nationwide to receive the inaugural U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools Award, which recognizes the highest performing green schools in the nation.

This innovative institution is a learning community committed to the pursuit of excellence in holistic education of mind, body, and spirit. We prepare students for lifelong learning, environmental responsibility, and service. We value the voice of every member of our community.

In 2009, Evergreen received full SACS CASI Accreditation through AdvancED, an organization that advances excellence in education worldwide. This accreditation ensures that Evergreen is meeting quality educational standards, engages in continuous improvement and demonstrates quality assurance through internal and external review.
